Forest ecology
Each forest is an area for living! With the large ecological diversity which is present also in Austria’s forests, our country harbours an outstanding natural treasure which must be preserved. The century-long utilisation of our landscape is one of the causes of this wealth for which many envy us today.
Preserving this natural heritage of forests is the goal and responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management. Here you will find information on its activities!

One such demand also relates to biological diversity. The international Convention on Biological Diversity of 1992, which was also ratified by Austria, defines this as “diversity within species, between species and of ecosystems”. > more about: Biological Diversity in the Forest
