Who owns the forest in Austria?

The greater part of the Austrian forest, namely 79.6%, is privately owned.
Of these forest areas, 47.4% are smaller than 200 hectares, 22.3% larger than 200 hectares, and 9.8% are community forests.

20.4% of all Austrian forests are owned by the public sector. Of these forest areas, 16% are managed by the Austrian Federal Forests ÖBF AG. The remainder is owned by the provinces and municipalities.
