Professional Title "Ingenieur"

The legal basis for awarding the right to use the professional title “Ingenieur” (Engineer) is the Engineers Act of 2006, Fed. Law Gazette No. 120/2006.

Professional title “Ingenieur”

The legal basis for awarding the right to use the title “Ingenieur” (Engineer) is the Engineers Act of 1990, Fed. Law Gazette No. 461/1990 as amended in Fed. Law Gazette No. 512/1994.

As set out in § 4 Par. 1 of the Engineers Act of 2006, the right to use the professional title “Ingenieur” is awarded by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management to individuals, who

as set out in subparagraph 1: have successfully graduated from an Austrian technical high school or high school with focus on agriculture and forestry and have at least 3 years of work experience in a position in which the relevant know-how and skills acquired at the relevant high school were applied, or
as set out in subparagraph 4: do not fulfil the requirements of subparagraph 1, but who have acquired a technical and general knowledge equivalent to that taught at technical high school or high schools with a focus on agriculture and forestry, and have at least 6 years of work experience in Austria in a position requiring the relevant know-how and skills.
